When you go to conferences, you tend to develop a group of friends that you hang out with and compare notes with and spend your evenings chatting with. As a blogger, I also spend time and energy trying to help other DBAs and give them opportunities. Adam Schneider was one of a small group of DBAs I spent my free time at conferences with. He tried out for DB2’s Got Talent in 2013, but did not make it into the finals. He passed away suddenly this week from heart issues. He was young, he was newly engaged, had a new job, and his death is a shock and a loss.
Adam was cheerful, he was eager, and he was thoughtful. Everyone who met him liked him, and he was easy to talk to on a whole range of topics. If you knew him, share your memories of him in the comments below.
I had promised him that I would post this picture from IDUG 2013 as the main picture on the blog when he finally wrote a guest blog for me. We had been talking about him guest blogging since IDUG 2012. Here it is, in his memory. He is the guy in the middle. Rest in Peace, friend.
