When I was in my early thirties, I was diagnosed with a learning disability. This really put my learning style into perspective. Teaching myself via a book was incredibly hard, and still is in some ways. Where I thrived was with hands on labs and engaging speakers.
It is that experience that has shaped my experience as a speaker. I strive to speak and teach in the same style that allowed me to thrive when I was learning a new topic. More importantly, I try to stay engaging, to the point, and try not to kill the audience with death by PowerPoint.
I speak and teach each year at IDUG technical conferences as a result. Now, I want to take things a little further and utilize my speaking ability with my new YouTube Channel “DiscoverDB2”. It was 6 months in the making before I launched with 10 videos during IDUG NA. I am still producing almost 1 video a week.
Content will range from step by step guides, to general concepts, to resources at your disposal, to my thoughts on the industry as a whole. Topics will also stretch from the basic “Cataloging a Database”, to the intermediate “REDUCE MAX” command, to advanced topics such as a “Db2 Docker Primer”.
Check out the channel, let me know what you think, and let me know what you would like to see.
From my perspective there’s no much learning info (videos, blogs) for learning pureScale and HADR w/TSA for a range of planning, design, administer and troubleshoot. Maybe you could add that to your youtube channel and thanks for the effort sharing your expertise. It’s great.
I have watched a few and they are fantastic and I appreciate the quality and the inclusion of best practices based on your experience. Keep them coming!
